Episode 225: Compassion and Conviction with Gender and Sexual Identity With Dr. Yarhouse

Powered by RedCircle

Sexuality and gender identity. These topics can sometimes be triggering or hold all kinds of connotations. Whether you have fears, concerns, or are so excited to finally hear us talking about this on the podcast, welcome. Take a deep breath and be ready to learn, wherever you are coming from today. Whether you are a part of a more conservative community or progressive community, whether this is personal or impacting those you love. Whether you are raising children or working with teens and young adults and you see this conversation impacting all of what they discern about God, the church and relationships, we hope today's episode will aid you in approaching this conversation with more grace, nuance and intention.

Our guest today is Dr. Mark Yarhouse. He is an award-winning teacher, psychologist, and researcher, who has authored numerous books and articles, including the featured white paper on sexual identity for the Gospel Coalition's Christ on Campus Initiative. He is the director of the Sexual & Gender Identity Institute at Wheaton College, and has spent the majority of his career studying and writing about the world of gender identities. His latest book, Talking to Kids About Gender Identity: A Roadmap for Christian Compassion, Civility, and Conviction is a thorough, practical guide for Christian parents to use as they navigate daunting conversations with their children from a Biblical perspective.
