Jessica Bradburn, MA, Counselor, Therapist

There are chapters in our life stories where we experience internal, relational, or external events or changes that leave us feeling like we have no way out, are pressed to the point of breaking, and are alone.

When in these places, it takes so much courage to reach out for support. I see counseling as a creative collaboration where together, we can find the beauty and meaning in what seems like chaos. You have deep worth, purpose and are made to belong. I believe that healing happens in relationships, and counseling can be a safe place to explore what barriers are between you and the ways you long to grow into new chapters of your journey. As a learner, I am honored to be with you in this process as you experientially learn how to navigate your story.

MY PHILOSOPHY AND APPROACH

My clinical passions and experience include marriage and couples counseling, premarital counseling, trauma and anxiety counseling, and religious/spiritual abuse recovery.

My approach to counseling is eclectic, with a strong foundation in emotionally focused therapy. This type of therapy has been scientifically validated over the last 20 years and focuses on attachment injuries, needs and longings, and our emotional reactions and responses to those attachment experiences.

I view people as part of a larger system, not as individuals in a vacuum. Sometimes those systems can cause difficulties that cannot be fully understood without looking at the system in which they were created. I also utilize a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach in therapy with the purpose of creating a safe haven for my clients. This means integrating the various parts of who you are into therapy with the hope of cultivating greater emotional, spiritual, relational, and physical well-being. I may draw on evidence-based interventions from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS) and other modalities to tend to these various parts.

My approach is attachment and trauma-informed, recognizing the impact of disruptive events and relationships on our nervous system’s ability to cope. Since you are unique, I will seek to use an approach that best fits you. Through the power of a safe and secure relationship, I collaborate with you in creating new experiences that will empower you to recognize your strengths, identify your needs, understand conflicts, discover new options, set personal development goals, and make informed choices toward deeply thriving.
