Philosophy & Approach

I became a Marriage and Family Therapist because I have a passion for helping people unleash their full potential as they choose to address the areas that are holding them back.  I believe that people can heal, grow and create a good and meaningful life for themselves.  I believe we all have the ability to rise above our circumstances and become stronger and better, not in spite of, but also because of, all we’ve walked through.  As a marriage and family therapist I believe that our relationships, past and present, contribute to both our pain and problems, and to our joy and healing.  Couples are a particular passion of mine.  I desire to help couples become safe and emotionally accessible for each other, not only helping them heal from past hurts and betrayals, but ultimately creating a healing relationship.

The fact that you are looking for a therapist is indicative of strength.  No matter how anxious, depressed, frustrated, broken or hopeless you are feeling, you are choosing to do something about it, and that is the first step toward growth.  I consider it a privilege to walk alongside couples, individuals, families, and children as they make the changes they desire and experience the freedom growth and healing can bring.  I am honored to help you author the next chapter of your life.

As a Christian, my worldview leads me to believe that every person has intrinsic value and worth and deserves to be treated as such.  I also believe that we live our fullest lives when we can integrate all parts of ourselves and work holistically.  I endeavor to create a safe space and a collaborative partnership to help you do the work you desire to do.

My theoretical orientation is based on attachment and I use primarily experiential models including Emotion-Focused (Couples) Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt, and Restoration Therapy.  I understand that every individual and family system is unique with their own unique set of challenges and circumstances and I tailor my approach to fit the person or people in front of me.

Formal Education and Training

I have a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in International Business and a master’s degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from George Fox University.  I was the graduate assistant for the Northwest Center for Play Therapy and have both pre- and post-graduate training in various play therapy techniques.  I have also taken extensive pre and post graduate training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. I have a certificate in trauma focused CBT.  Past experience includes private practice and work in a residential, faith-based recovery community.

Professional Status and Supervision

I am currently a registered Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Oregon (License #T2266).  I am committed to seeking consultation with other mental health professionals as needed.

Fees & Cancellation Policy

My fee is $185 for a clinical hour (50 minutes). Payment is made up front for each session via cash, check or credit card.  I do not accept insurance; however, you may investigate if your insurance benefits cover out-of- network providers and what those terms are (including specifically whether they apply to registered state interns). You may be able to submit paperwork to your insurance company in order to apply our sessions to deductibles and/or receive assistance or reimbursement for the costs. I am happy to provide a super-bill for those purposes as requested.

In the event you need to cancel your session, please contact me no later than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment so as not to be charged for the session.
