Philosophy and Approach:
Understanding your own journey is one of the bravest things you will ever do for yourself.
Sometimes our story doesn’t follow the plan we had dreamed of, or it takes some turns for the worst, leaving us feeling lost, hopeless, and/or lonely. When difficult transitions occur, it makes understanding our story even more difficult. When you enter this season of trying to make sense of the twists and turns, having a skilled companion by your side to listen, see you, affirm you, and explore difficult parts of your story can be healing. I am here to help you discover that inner strength, provide clarity, and support your confidence during this journey.
Asking for help takes a lot of courage and bravery already. You do not have to do this alone, there are people like myself who not only are willing and eager to help but give you that safe space to freely explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment. I believe our therapeutic relationship is vital as we journey together. Together we will work to explore your emotions and needs and work towards a hopeful and authentic life.
Formal Education, Training, and Experience:
I have completed my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. My coursework includes Clinical Internship, Helping Relationships, Counseling Theories, Psychopathology, Group Therapy, and Multicultural Counseling.
In addition, I also have a Master of Divinity from Evangel University with a counseling emphasis. I have worked as a pastor since 2001 for children, youth, college, and adults.
As a second-generation Asian-American, I can relate to and understand the specific struggles of children of immigrants. In my years of ministry, I have also provided pastoral care and comfort for individuals while walking with them through their darkest valleys. Whether that be a child or an elderly individual, each person was worth the journey, and I was honored to be a part of it.
Continuing Education and Supervision:
I am a registered associate in the state of Oregon (#R7844). My current supervisor is Dr. Michelle Engblom-Deglmann, LMFT (OR and CA), License #T1004. My counseling sessions may be recorded and shared with my supervisor, with your consent, for training purposes.
