Dr. Ryan Hosley, PsyD
Philosophy and Approach:
As an entrepreneur, father to a large family, and lover of the outdoors, I am not your typical couch psychologist. I am a native Oregonian who has owned and operated various businesses since my teenage years. I have a background as a collegiate basketball player, and when I am not helping others achieve their potential, I am likely busy taking my wife of over 15 years and my seven children on adventures like whitewater rafting, fishing, shooting, or doing some projects around the house.
I believe that life should be full of passion and based on a clear vision and understanding of who we are and what we are capable of. I believe that we were designed to live peacefully, passionately, and connected with others. However, this is often not a reality for many people. Trauma happens, addiction happens, life happens. We get off track and get stuck, often hurting those in relationship with us.
I believe people often live in fear and accept false identities that keep them feeling isolated. In that state, they they often seek to cope with this uncomfortable reality in ways that ultimately lead them further away from what they are truly looking for.
I use my psychological expertise and draw from my experiences as a son, father, husband, entrepreneur and believer in Christ to assist people in achieving their goals and experiencing freedom from a wide variety of psychological and relational challenges. I also specialize in the treatment of addiction and trauma, infidelity and affairs. I believe in establishing sobriety, engaging in a culture of supportive relationships, working through barriers to living in healthy relationships, and developing a vibrant spirituality.
I work with individuals, couples, families and teens and offer groups, couples’ and individual therapy. I also offer a Men’s Recovery Group designed to provide structure, support and rigorous self-examination; this is inpatient treatment in an outpatient setting.
Formal Education and Training:
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in History with a Minor in Philosophy from Gordon College in Massachusetts, my perspective on God, people and myself began to crystallize. Wanting to make an impact, I completed an MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology, as well as additional training through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP.COM) and earned a certification as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT). Continued training and clinical experience has afforded me the opportunity to call myself an addiction and trauma specialist.
